Port vs direct injection
WebWith port fuel injection, gasoline is sprayed into the intake manifold, where it mixes with air, and then is sucked down into the cylinders. Direct injection places an injector on each cylinder, spraying gasoline into the cylinder itself. Direct injection leads to more efficient engines, as the gasoline-air mixture burns more completely.

WebFeb 12, 2016 · Throttle body injection uses a single fuel injector to inject fuel right before the throttle body. Multi port injection is the most common since the early/mid 90s. Each cylinder gets its own fuel injector mounted in the intake manifold. Direct injection is not very common on gasoline engines, but is growing in popularity. WebDirect injection, by contrast, uses slow-moving air and fast-moving fuel; both the design and manufacture of the injectors is more difficult. The optimisation of the in-cylinder air flow is much more difficult than designing a prechamber. There is much more integration between the design of the injector and the engine. [4]

It offers huge gains when … WebSequential Fuel Injection. Sequential fuel injection systems fire each injector individually. This system is more efficient than a multiport system because changes to the fuel mixture are instantaneous. Most of today's engines have sequential fuel injection systems.
