Inward flow radial turbine
WebThis turbine is used for medium heads with medium discharge. Water enters the runner and flows towards the center of the wheel in the radial direction and leaves parallel to the axis of the turbine. Turbines are subdivided into impulse and reaction machines. In the impulse turbines, the total head available is converted into the kinetic energy. Radial means that the fluid is flowing in radial direction that is either from inward to outward or from outward to inward. If the fluid is flowing from inward to outward then it is called outflow radial turbine. 1. In such turbines, the water enters at the centre of the wheel and then flows outwards (i.e., towards the outer periphery of the wheel).

In outward flow radial turbine stages, the flow of the gas or steam occurs from smaller to larger diameters. The stage consists of a pair of fixed and moving blades. The increasing area of cross-section at larger diameters accommodates the expanding gas. This configuration did not become popular with the … Meer weergeven A radial turbine is a turbine in which the flow of the working fluid is radial to the shaft.
