WebJul 11, 2024 · Not sure about your mac, but I had 4 gb, (2x2gb) sticks in half of slots (4). I added 2x4gb in unused slots for a total of 12gb. Then on next payday, replaced the 2-two's with another 2x4gb sticks for a total of 16gb (max). Just make sure of the speed being the same, and I kept same brand-(just personal preference). (e.g. 3 x 2800 1 x 2133 all 4 will run at 2133). Might be a bit obvious but they'll all need to be the Same DDR as well and mobo must be compatible with that revision (DDR3 or DDR4). mixed DDR wont work.
